Too Big....

I have an issue I'd like to address. My title is called TOO BIG...and NO, I'm not talking about my pregnant belly at this time. I'm talking about my newest Bridesmaid's dress.

Here is the deal...

My brother is getting married in about three weeks. We had to order our dresses a few weeks back...and they are in. Now, I called the place, told them I was 8 months pregnant at the time...and HOW would I order my dress? They were kind, told me what to do and so I did it.

Yesterday I got my dress and tried it on. It fit. Big belly and all. It fit my belly P.E.R.F.E.C.T.L.Y. PERFECLY----at 39 weeks and 5 days. Perfectly with a 8 lb baby INSIDE of me. Perfectly. Did I mention it wasn't TIGHT in the tummy? I've got maternity shirts that are tighter. Ugh.

The rest of the dress was WAAAAY too big. The straps were falling off...My husband turned to me and said, "Um, I think the top part doesn't look right." We laughed. But, I must say it made my belly look cute.

So...with this being said, and since this is my 11th time to be a bridesmaid...I can say this: WHY can't bridal shops get the sizing right??? This IS NOT my 1st rodeo with a dress! I have 10 OTHER stories I could tell you! (One dress involves being a size 40....don't get me started) With each dress...I've had SUCH a hard time with getting them to fit........ALMOST all of them are WAAAY too big. (hello...size 40) and I spend MORE money getting them to FIT my body.

Going back to this dress...when I found out I was going to be IN the wedding I tried on my LAST bridesmaids dress from my sister's wedding. Called the shop and told them that EVEN at 8 months along..the dress STILL fit and ALL was well. MAYBE get me the next size up...just in case, but did they listen? NOPE. Instead they got me a dress THREE sizes UP...and have I mentioned it fits me NOW!?!?!?!? Yes, Big belly and all.

SO. I guess I have a new gameplan. Here is it. Give Birth. (Grand idea!) Wait two weeks and go get it fitted. OH MY. It should be a blast! I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

Til then, I may just wear it around the house...because after all, it fits PERFECTLY now.

Ugh, I had the SAME problem! I was 7 months prego when I was fitted for a bridesmaid dress and the wedding was 2 months after my due date! They insisted on ordering me this HUGE dress and when it came in it fit horribly ... even after having it altered!

Had to work around this for Stacy and Jamie at our wedding. The shop owner told me the average girl should only have to add a size or two from their usual dress size. Then he told me what styles are most forgiving post-pregnancy. Used their bust size and added a little to their usual dress size. Worked really well.

BUT most shops seem to add way too many sizes. IMHO, it's b/c then they can charge more for the alterations. Grrrrr.

Oh my word. ANNOYING!!! Kind of fun that you can wear it now :) :)haha maybe you should wear it into the store and show them all ... so they can learn for next time?? That'd be pretty funny!

I love the idea of wearing it around the house. Get some use out of it. Maybe have a Cinderella and Prince Charming dinner party. : ) That is GREAT!
For my "little" brothers wedding, I was four months after birth. All other bridesmaid were flat chested and a size 2 (after they ate). So My buxom nursing boobies, in a low cut dress made out of SILK that I couldn't wear a bra with was ... interesting!!!

You are just the sweetest thing even being a bridesmaid while pregnant! I couldn't have managed it!

Best wishes,
Natasha.
