Spoiled American

A few years ago some friends and I went to the BV Island Tortola. Yes, we had fun. Yes, the view was breathtaking. Y.E.S. it was hot. OH my word. Hot Isn't even the word. I found places I NEVER knew could sweat. Yes. Terrible.

Fast-forward to today.....

My house DOES NOT have air. I THOUGHT I could just handle it, and do my cleaning and such. Nope. I was miserable. Poor legs...the size of watermelons. Sweat...ALL over. Poor Wil. He just didn't quite know what to do with me. He laughed and told me I was spoiled... Finally, he went and bought a portable air unit.

Ya know what!? I will admit it. I am spoiled when it comes to heat. I DO NOT like to be hot. I like my place COLD. I like when I don't stick to things.

Felt like this today!

...AND THIS!

Do not get me wrong...I L.O.V.E. summer....I just love the air conditioning that comes with it!

One day at breakfast....

A few days ago, while I was eating breakfast, I looked out the window and to my surprise this is the picture I saw.

So I went to grab my camera to get a few pics. So cute!

This pic is taken from my house. Wasn't quite for sure how close the hen would let me get to her baby chicks. I would soon find out.

She kept a close watch on me as I followed them around. She headed towards the bushes and they kept following her.

Wanting to get a close up...I crept closer. They were just so soft and fuzzy. The cutest thing I've seen this spring.

I could have watched them all day. They stayed together and hardly moved from one another.

This little one had almost made it to the bushes...but I was lucky enough to get this close to her.

Ah, yes, life in the country is grand.

Pool Day #2

Fishing, picnic, and life at the lake...

This summer Wil LOVES fishing. So off we went to the lake to enjoy our afternoon and evening with a picnic supper....

Best pic of the day! LOVE this man so much!

I was sitting in my new beach chair reading a book...while Wil fished.

In 1 hour he caught 12 fish. No worries, he let them all go. So I don't have to clean them tonight! :)

Our supper consisted of ham sandwiches and fruit and pickles. Yum!

Cause you've had a bad day...

Bad days...I hate them. What makes ONE day worse than the next? Oh dear, I don't know. Sad. Today hasn't been the BEST day, and REALLY hasn't been the WORSE day. BUT, it hasn't been a GREAT day....Let me explain.

This weekend was super busy and stressful....BUT OVER. (THANK GOD)

So today, I woke up VERY tired but glad I didn't have much to do. I picked up my house and started looking for the Nolt's circle letter. Wil has 8 siblings and they have a circle letter. Each wife writes a letter and sticks it in the envelope and passes it on to the next "sister." About every two-three months the letter shows up and you take YOUR letter out and stick a new one in. Great idea! Not when you lose it. SO I hunted HIGH and LOW and CAN.NOT. find the letter. I had it Saturday. Somehow it got lost Sunday. I think it fell into the trash and Wil burnt the trash this morning.... Sigh. Moving on....

Then, I decided to make this new rice dish for lunch. I read what the recipe said to do and I needed to bake the rice for an hour. An hour later...not ready. An hour and a half later..still not ready. An hour and 45 mins later...Able to eat. Not GOOD, but it was soooooooooooooooooooooo hot it burnt my mouth. THEN, I also burnt my chin too....don't ask.

So then, I did the dishes and went and sat down. I decided to take a nap. Fell asleep for 10 mins to wake up because of the chickens OUTSIDE. Grrr.

My plan for supper was sandwiches. Wil told me he's tired of them so I decided to try something new. I walked away for a MINUTE, the phone rang, and I go back in and I burnt some of the potatoes. NOT good. My culinary skills are going down the drain. We ate the food anyway. Not bad.

Wish I was HERE...

Doing this...

My night is getting better. I'm going to watch Bachelorette, Jillian, as she falls in love AND I'm going to read more of my book.

SOoooooooooo, maybe this day wasn't as bad as it seemed.

If only I could find that letter....

More beautiful than diamonds

Last night I attended Wednesday night church. Some of our church members are on a mission's trip so it was a very small crowd. We had a wonderful service...
In the middle of worship, Mark started singing:

Lord, you are more precious than silver.

Lord, you are more costly than gold.

Lord, you are more beautiful than diamonds,

Nothing I desire compares with you.

As we were singing I looked down at my wedding ring, and thought about how I treat my wedding ring. I know where it is at ALL times. When I'm not wearing my ring it is in the ring case Wil gave to me. When it's not in the case...the ring is on my finger.

Then, I asked myself DO I treat God like that!? Do I know "where God is at all times?" Do I just throw Him around and not treat Him like precious silver, gold, or diamonds? I was sad when I realized that I sometimes treat my wedding ring better than I treat God. Conviction crept into my soul. Things are going to change. I'm taking the words to heart. Spending more time with Him. "Knowing where is is" and everytime I look at my wedding band I have the ring to remind me that God is more beautiful than diamonds....

A Tom Sawyer of a day...

Last week, my husband and I went for a little drive...We came across this road sign.

Knowing SO much, Wil told me how a few years ago, a farmer was driving over the bridge and it collapsed. They never fixed the road or the bridge, and the country folks would have to travel several miles just to cross the river. SOOOO, a man and his son decided to change that to help everyone out!

They made this cute little cable car to get across the river. (Or stream...by the looks of it!)

Wil brought the cable car up to us so we didn't have such a HUGE step to take...THEN, you push yourself off and FLY halfway down the rope.

SO.MUCH.FUN.

After you are halfway down you pull yourself with the rope to get across the rest of the river.

We had a blast that day...as Wil and I were in it together, I told him I felt very much like Tom Sawyer. And I felt the need to go fishing.

What a great start to summer!

Children's Books...

I am a sucker for books. Love them. Crave them. Could spend HOURS in a bookstore doing nothing but reading and browsing. BUT...some of all-time FAVORITE books are Children's books. Love them...so much!

It could be the teacher in me. Or the inner child in me. BUT, without a doubt I L.O.V.E. them so much. When I walk into a store...I'll just walk through the books. I've found so many great ones and can't wait to find other great books!

Here are just a few...

My cousin ALWAYS sends me a giftcard every birthday. This was one of the books I got two years ago. LOVE it!

My newest little favorite! She is without a doubt everything I am NOT. That is why I love her.

This book is beautiful. I could look at it over and over again and find things that are new. So proud to be the owner of this book.

These are just THREE of the books I enjoy. There are soooo many more out there waiting for me to read. AH...
